Hi, Can anyone confirm what make and model jack was supplied with a 56' 88". I have the winding bars, but need to locate the right bottle jack. I presume it may be a Shelley.
Thanks, John

SubscriberWhat type of head does your winder have? Square , paddle or something else? My 1953 80" came with a 1/53 dated Shelley LJ25 (same as the '49 dated Shelley on jack website) with the paddle type winder head on 2' 6" 1/2" square shaft with a forged eye welded on for the wooden winder handle. The socket on the jack looks at first glace to accept the crank handle, but the socket is too small. I think Rover used whatever Shelley could supply that fitted their weight capacity needs and minimum and maxium heights. All LR jaccks I have seen have a curved saddle that sits under the tubular section of the axle casing. I hope that info is of help. 5380
Mine has a King Dick jack.
I'd have to look and check what the saddle shape is.

I'm pretty sure I've got 2 Shelly jacks from Series 1 vintage.
Unfortunately not at home at present so can't check but both would be available if still stored at back of jack cupboard. Possibly also have operating handles.

I suspect that Australian built Series Landrovers were delivered with a variety of different jacks - but never having had a new one, I cannot really help!

Same LJ25 as my 1953 80". My tool kit set up is vitually identical to yours. Incidentally, what does the short cranked handle do? Mine didn't have that. Wish I could find a 1951/53 Operations Manual to finish off the package though. Can get earlier 48/51 manuals, but not the 51/53 one yet.
