Gentlemen,
I appear to have misplaced my Steering Box bracket for my 1953 S1 80".
I have been through the Work Shop manual (4291) which shows the attached image, however the parts manual does not show this part at all, and an internet search finds this part buts states they are for S2 and S3 only.

It been a couple of years since I dismantled the old girl, so have limited recollection of what mines looked like and how it was fitted.
If some-one has one spare, then I'd be grateful to be buy it, or if someone has a part number or a picture of it in situ on an 80" that would be hugely helpful
So confused yet again.
regards and thanks in advance,
Jeff in Perth WA. .

Apologies to all,
What I dumb Ba*%&$ I am!!
I wasted an hour on Manuals and searching, eventually remembering that it bolded through the firewall and does not use a seperate bracket.
thank you BSF, you always seem to have the right answers, and Jim, you always seem to have the parts.
regards
Jeff - feeling a bit stupid right now.
My 53 steering box bolts straight to the firewall.
53 had a strengthen plate where it bolts through, due to early firewalls cracking.

Your 80" steering box should mount like this IMAG0291.jpg Unless some one has fitted the later 86" / 88" steering box which will then require a bracket on the chassis. This is a common modification when the original S/Box becomes badly worn , the problem with the later box it brings the steering wheel 2" closer to your chest. The reason for this is the bulkhead area of the chassis is were they added the extra 2" for the longer wheel base.

Jeff,
Some 80's have a wedge shaped spacer shim between the steering box and bulkhead to make allowance for the production variations in the angle of the mounting area.
Just make sure that the steering box mounting boss is parrallel with the bulkhead face. Mine has a tapered shim plate with slotted holes that takes up the misalignment between the box and bulkhead to avoid putting a bending load on the steering column.
