help - how to install a new SU fuel pump - comments and photo's please

    Hi all
Quick update on the 1952 80 Series One refurbishment.
I just fitted my refurbished radiator on the weekend - but a bit stumped on getting it running again until I get the correct fan belt - I was given the wrong one. but have the correct one on the way.

but my next project is replacing the cheap electric fuel pump and replacing it with a new but original type of SU pump.

I have a couple of photo's of whats there - attached
I have the exploded diagram from the old Series One Landcover Service manual but would love a couple of close up photos from an original installed SU pump to help me understand how to install, plumb and wire this new pump. I know I need a plate and some new bolts - but am not sure how it actually fits on and if it bolts to the plate that my current pump is connected to.
Any photos, comments or guidance very welcome - Thanks

    cheers

    Nobby

    Thanks
I had a look through a few books I have as well - there are engine photo's
but can't get a close up of that aluminium panel and how the pump and plate attach
I am wondering if the aluminium plate I have there is original or a new replacement ?
I will have another look and google photo's as well

    cheers

Bracket listed here, hopefully someone can confirm it's correct. My Series I has a couple of Facet pumps, the SU is long gone.

    Thanks !
I found that one as well - I assume that the round plate in photo I have just attached fits behind that plate and pump is attached on other side by two bolts.
that gives me something to work with

    cheers

    Hi Nooby.
You will also need two of these. LR 212558 rubber bush fuel pump mount – Charlesworth Mouldings
He also has a supply of other parts you may need. I have used them several times and give good service to Australia. All the rubber parts are made in house so last, unlike the aftermarket ones available.
They pass through the bulkhead plate and the larger rubber piece you have.
The genuine bracket has a turned piece on the outside edge to give it rigidity. I thought someone had bent mine. it snapped off when I tried to straighten it.
I will get some pics of my 90% finished 53, 80inch fuel pump fitted. Fuel lines not done yet. I will just use 1/4 flexi fuel line.

    Hi whitehillbilly
Thank you ! These are great and do help to explain the set up a lot.
One question in your third photo - there looks to be a dark plate is that the metal disc/plate - in my photo? - attached. I had thought that that was behind the plate but now realise it might be on the pump side of the plate?
I will look into sourcing the bolts and the rubbers - thanks for the lead on where to buy those w.

I am thinking I have the right backing plate - once i get rid of old pump and flasher unit - then need to attach my new pump.
the 80" is a distance away from me in a shed and will have a look at it next week - with this new info.

Appreciate all the comments and photo's !

    cheers
