    Tyres for 80"

I'm at the pointy-end of my rebuild now. Just having to deal with sourcing all the little bits needed to finish (senders, fuel fittings, etc).

I'm having trouble sourcing new 6.00 R16 Tyres.

Can anyone recommend a source for affordable Series 1 tyres in Australia?

    Thanks Gromit

The MRF 600-16 NDT 6 Ply are similar to what I have (which are unroadworthy). I wonder about the road noise with that tread type.

I have seen some others have 600-R16s with a more modern MT-type pattern (see attached pic). They seem hard to find though.

They look similar to the Road Trek Major tyres on mine.

There was a batch of 700 X16's being made and I managed to get 4. It was many years ago.

The 80 were 6.00 16 not 7.00, generally speaking the widest tyre on 5" rims should be 6.50 16. But hard to get.

The CKD shop in the UK a couple of years ago had reproduction batches of 6.00 16 Trakgrips* and Multigrips made, they can supply out of Brisbane when available.

    * Original pattern on early 80"

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I use Milspares for my S1 Tyres.
Ordered and turned up the next day, as they were despatched a day before I paid for them...

    Diana,
Aware of the tyre size, just sharing my experience.

I was struggling to find anything that looked 'period' and, by chance, found that Dunlop were making a batch of RTM's in Malaysia.
(I already had one good RTM).
From memory the ply rating was different.

Thanks for mentioning Milspares. I used them for a couple of chassis pieces and they were very good.

Looks like they have 600 R16 bar treads. Doe these need to be run with tubes, or can they be run tubeless?

I see that 205R16 seem to be common but I'm concerned they will look too big, I want to retain as close to the original size as possible, I believe the closest would be 175/100?
