Cmon Mick take it easy there! no 350s! thought some drab paint, canvas canopy, got some pioneer tool mounts, and chuck on a brush bar, she would look ok, maybe not too
The original colour of the Streak has been a contentious issue as we have trace of Grey, Bronze Olive, and the Shoddy Blue I would call French Blue, I like a nice dark Cream like they used to paint the old FX Holdens and the Single Spinner Ford of 1949, the body wont be straight enough to put some deep glossy colour, she will show every ripple and layer of bog there is, Drab is good as you can cover some mistakes and not have to worry, so it would be Cream with a white Roof and either an alloy or a rebuilt timber tray, the Blue is most likely it, have to experiment and make my mind up.
You see a Series1 these days and they are mainly Green, Troy and the Numptys have Grey 107s, mine was Grey I would think, the only thing Green is the PTO cover on the seat box, so Blue would stick out in a crowd but then the stickler brigade may or will frown upon the Blue, after all she is called the Blue Streak, she would be easily recognised as mine anywhere. Dont know have to drink some beers on day and make a decision
I do declare,
what an interesting photo,
didn;t know 132-138/grey motor conversions were the go in early rovers.
good old motors.
looks like fun!!!!
john
At the time when the conversions were first being done by Dellow the only motor was the Grey 6, the Red wasnt even designed at the time, once the Red come out things changed, see with the grey they are a straight drop in, you simply weld in the front engine mount bar and in it goes, none of this chopping the firewall to clear the cover, and the best thing is the Grey is a long Stroke engine with torque down low, ideal for the old things, got no idea on how fast they went, who cares really long is sits on 50 mph and gets up the hills ok
yeah go the blue mate . let it stand out i know mine will stand out
