With a buff it comes up very shiney, but you still see the zink crystals.

A friend told me years ago that he had cleaned up his gal bits on his Series II by wiping with a very weak acid solution and then rinsing well.
You might need to wait for someone else to recommend this technique. It was 40 years ago and I never actually tried it myself.
1973 Series III LWB 1983 - 2006
1998 300 Tdi Defender Trayback 2006 - often fitted with a Trayon slide-on camper.
An acid solution will clean it up, but remember that you are removing some of the galvanising. I would recommend car polish, if necessary use an abrasive one such as Kitten No 2. Remember though, that it was never shiny except for the first few months from the factory.

						I too was looking into this but I am just to use some galv paint, my gal is very very average, I know very fine steel wool and turps will shine up alloy, might work on gal
