    Rebuilding a 109 1958 Ute

    Hi All
Early in 2007 I acquired a collection of several tonnes of Land Rover bits.
Consisting of a 109, 88, chassis and enough panels etc, to build a car or two.
I picked up 1/2 a shed full, then took took 5 weeks off to go to Philippines.

When I returned Wayne Ellard and my self spent 2 days filling up 2 Car Trailers
and our cars with the rest.
This my first attempt to post photo's so I hope it works.

The photo's are of some of the gear Wayne and I picked up in March 07.

I started to sort out a little of it before things ground to a halt because I went over seas for 3 months, in May 07
Things have not moved far since then as I have been to Cooma, Vietnam, Bali, and 2 weeks fishing on the west coast of S.A. so far this year.
In saying that I have rebuilt the Engine and Gear Box from a donor car and a Firewall.
Some of the bits I have found are, 2 complete PTO units, Governor, PTO head and pulley, 80 " firewall etc. All have been recond to new condition.
I still have more than 15 20 ltr drums still full of gear to go through.
    Pictures to follow.
    Cheers
    Ian

    Hi All
Sleepy they are in 100% nick
been sand blasted some 15 years ago
    no holes no nicks
    I believe they are 88'
not sure if there is a great deal of difference in 86 and 88" Bulk heads
    the 80 " is a perfect late 48 early 49
The chap I got the gear off, over many years wrecked more than 15 series 1's
    and kept the good bits
i have 20 ltr drums of nuts, screws, bolts, spring washers, U bolts etc etc, all cav plated.
100kgs of new Galv bits, half the gear I know not what.
I go through another drum, I am like kid with a room full of Christmas presents.
    cheers
    Ian

    Hi there

I can assure you the gear is in great condition.

The gear was scattered - and majority of it was stored in a field bin, were it took 2 days of busting a-s to get it all out.

Since picking all this gear up - Ian has rebuilt the 109 engine & gear box and is back in the rolling chassis with bulk head fitted, going to be a nice rig when its finished.

With the little fella mastering posting pictures I assure there will me namy more pictures to follow of the rebuild.

    Well all the best

    Wayne
