You're a pretty handy guy...I'm remembering the L/R lettering in white on the mudguards... and now the fabricated centre disc...looks great.

The good steering wheel I have, has a metal centre disk, which is pretty flat and a sort of silver colour, I say "sort of" as it's so scratched, it's hard to tell. Would it have been black originally?

Did you have to fill any cracks on the bakalite wheel? I have a few minor cracks on my good one, and I'll be filling them at some point.

You're going to have to find another hobby, this one will be finished any day.

PS Are you fitting seat belts for a rego req, or just a personal safety thing.

origionally the Landy had the horn dip switch fitted and now that i had fitted an NOS S2A Army steering Column it has a solid shaft. I had refurbished that centre cap but will now use it for my 1950 LR.

So i cut some extruded styrofoam and shaped it to fit in the centre bit of the steering wheel. I then coated it with Epoxy Resin and some fine Matt fibre glass sheet. once cured i gave it a light sand and coat with body filler then another sand + primer then sand 800 wet and dry and top coat in acryllic black. Just a note that Polyester Resin will melt styrofoam.

Wow Chris, that is quite a good looking project.

Were you able to get an original engine. In the begining of this thread you stated that you wanted one. If you got one meanwhile this thread doesn't say so. I still see the Holden engine so I assume you didn't find one yet.

I call on all readers to consider donating their extra engine to Chris.

He's certainly shown in this project thread full of pictures that he is worth it. That he will honour originality and re-furbish things in top quality.

If I had a spare I would gladly give it to you. I hope you'll find one soon.

Good luck and hope to see all of you one day on a Series 1 meet here in Vic.

thanks mate, yep the centre disc would be black, i have seen some that had a wrinkly or rough black surface. not sure if that is paint aging or is the actual way its meant to be. but i know for sure they were painted black.

as for my steering wheel, yep i had cracks so what i did was widen the cracks up with my Dremel, and then fill the cracks with 5min epoxy then sand over and apply body filler and sand to a finish. then finished it off in 2pak black.

hahaha yeah this ones definitley on the home run, well the next hobby is the 1950 that i recently got from South West Victorian farming region.

im fitting the belts for Rego Req and mainly for Safety too.

thanks mate, yeah at the start i couldnt get an engine because the prev owner sold it and couldnt find one around at the time but thats ok i had decided to leave the 186 in the Landy as a point of interest.

dont worry about a donor engine, thanks its ok really....! i have the 1950 model S1 which i will be onto next and that has the origional gbox and engine so thats fine & no more holden's either. one red motor is enough...!
