Sensational job, Chris. What an absolute gem!
hi Lane,
thanks for your compliments. we just had the Series Restoration Day yesterday on Sun11th Oct. it was great to get my landy out there with its other next of kin Landys.
cheers,
Chris
hi, hope you are all well. gees i havent posted on my thread since 12th of Oct. time flies3 weeks till Christmas
whats on your wish list???
i was ill for a couple of weeks i had Landroveritus (should post this word on Wikipedia), LoL nah just a chest infection but im ok!
now back to the Landy, where was i at. thats right the day i got back home with the landy from the resto day, i noticed my rhs fuel tank had decided to take a Leak............so back to the workshop and out comes the tank found the 1 inch crack on the seam line at the top rear left side. so i filled the tank with water and silver soldered that area. then bought PPC brand tank sealer in a kit with marine clean and metal ready.
so i started by Degreasing the tank with marine clean let it sit for 30min bit of a scrub, rinse that out then once dried poured in metal ready let it sit for 30 min drain it out and rinse with water then let it dry for 2hrs or so with the help of a hair dryer. while i was at it i did the other tank too.
once both tanks dried, i masked all areas like the drain hole, pick up line hole and sender unit hole. so out of the 1 litre tank sealer i poured in 500mls in both tanks sloshed them around to cover all internal areas of the tank. 1 litre easily can do 100 litre tank no probs. i also brushed some sealer on the outside of the tank where i done the silver solder repair.
once done i put a bucket under the drain plug and undone it to drain any access sealer, then pured it back into the tin to have half left put the lid back on it and stored away. the instruction say to leave it open and let it dry out! can explode hasnt happend yet. i used it for sealing other tanks. mower and a morocycle tank too might as well use it caus it bloody cost like $80 bucks mate!
while the tanks were drying (allow to dry approx 96hrs) i cleaned up my sender units and pickup lines. yesterday i installed the tanks back on the Landy and install sender and pickup lines. i also put a filter at the end of the pickup line, i insert this through the drain plug. these are mopar parts 5/16 in tank pickup line filters. that should stop any big chunks from blocking up the fuel lines.
anyways next week ill top the tanks up with fuel and should be as good as gold! then next week i can go for roadworthy and get the thing Club Rego......! sweet all done..............!not always done as there will be other things to iron out over time........!
some pics attached.
Cheers,
Chris

You gotta be kidding me...
Chris.. you should work for a museum or an art-restorer... I have some in my family, so if you ever want to move to the Netherlands....
Wow, great pictures and what a handywork!... (is that the right expression?)
thanks Grockle i had a look at the 4x4 linkage lever, it was on an angle for starters i undone the locknut and turned that rod around so the lever sits vertical now. after adjusting i push the yellow knob down its stays down, and when i push the high low transfer lever back and forth it pops back up.
now just have to take it for a test drive and see if 4x4 engages. thanks for that i never new that shaft piece was adjustable!
cheers,
