The oval dash was only on 80" series 1s. All other series 1s have the same dash with slight mods for diesels and stationwagons.

See pics below - the larger one is a diesel dash but the only difference is the light under the switch which is not on petrol dashs.

As stated, the 80" Landrover had a small, oval dash with separate instruments.
With the 86/107 this was replaced with a rectangular dash with a large Speedo and a combination gauge - ammeter, fuel and high beam, with a combined ignition and light switch. Also on the panel were warning lights for generator, oil pressure and cold start (choke), plus a push-pull panel light switch. (Diesels had a separate ignition and heater plug switch below the panel.

This panel continued into Series 2 and 2a, until 1967, when it was modified with the change to negative earth. It was generally the same except that the combination gauge now had temperature, fuel and generator light, the other warning lights moved into the bottom of the speedo, and the light switch was no longer combined with the ignition, but became a separate toggle switch. The panel light was also a toggle switch, as was the wiper switch, which moved from the wiper motor to the panel. The choke moved from below the panel to the bottom RH corner of the panel. Note that the fuel gauges and senders are not interchangeable across this change.
