    Which Horn?

Which of the following horns would be the the correct one for a 1949 80"? Your help would be appreciated.

The Lucas Altette is correct for the 80" but not with the chrome surround.

That said, I have seen a number of 1949 early 1950s with another type of horn which had a vertical louvered face with some sort of design (in my memory I have an image of an indian head). Sorry no pics ATM, but it makes me wonder if they were common after-market horns of the period or possibly fitted as part of the Australian content rules that were coming in at that time.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

If the front of the horn you are thinking of was convex and chromed, then yes, they were common aftermarket horns in the early postwar period. I can't remember the picture on them. It is possible that both your speculations may be correct - they were common aftermarket ones, which means they could be supplied off the shelf to increase local content, and I suspect that at this time Rover was less concerned about keeping vehicles the same everywhere than they became later. (Although this aim was never achieved)

The chrome I can sort out. The horn on the left shows the mounting bracket bent such that the hole for the mounting bolt is at 90deg to the face of the horn. Is this what would be correct?
