    Well Done Kat and Dan

On the plates, you can't have 56LND,56LRO or LND56 as I have them, but LRO56 is available OR there is a special 7 letter prestige special on at the moment that will fit MATILDA.

Sweet Series One. There's something pure and raw with a Series One...they're a special Land Rover. One day I'll have one too.

    Mate that thing looks sweet

May you have many uncomfortable, but joyful drives in her

I just ordered the timber to convert the carport to a shed so mine will look like that sometime

Thanks again, folks. I was quite overwhelmed last night at the GCLRO meeting. zulu Delta (Glen) presented both Kat Woman and I with t-shirts - these have a piccy of Matilda on them, with, "Guess what I own" written above it!

Well, I'm wearing mine to work today!

It didn't end there though - later in the evening, Hodgo came over for a chat and has given me an original Land Rover service manual for the 1956 Series 1! I was very humbled by these lovely gestures, and if this is any indication as to life as a Series 1 owner, I know I am going to enjoy it.

Thanks you all again for your well wishes.

    Hello again Folks,

Well, Series life is suddenly very interesting and I haven't even picked Matilda up yet! I found a website which deciphors the chassis number....

Land Rover FAQ - History, Production, Sales - Chassis Numbering

    My chassis is 57662061

    So the revelation hits me - it's not a '56 88. It's a 1955 (5), Land Rover (7), 86 inch (6), late 1955 RHD export knock down (6), serial number 2061.

    Am I right?

PS - This does look like it!

Near the end of the run.
    5 1955
    7 series 1
    6 86" Basic CKD
    6 Export RHD
    2061 0f 2250

Told you you didn't need that extra 2 inches

Just over 1000 older than mine. It was delivered 5/5/55 so yours should have been towards the end of the year, hence why the owner might of thought it was a '56.
