is this a army or home made?

i just came across a swb series 2a that the owner believes is a genuine ex army car. it is a total wreck.

however, the only thing that appears to be in good condition is the hard top. the strange thing about this hard top is though, it has a lift up hatch runnning the full length of the passenger side of the vehicle.

i spent a good few minutes looking at this top as i was not sure whether it was home made or not, the owner says it is genuine and it sure looks as though it is.

can any one tell me if such a vehicle was ever produced., a series 2a swb workshop with a lift up side hatch on a hardtop.

Not sure....but a pick would be very helpful to ascertain if it is a ex-mil as well as the hard top

unfortunately the car in question is 3 hours drive form me. no chance of pics or numbers, it was parked just near the series 1 107 i found a few weeks ago.

i looked on the remlr site and saw nothing like it but it sure looks genuine, the car also had water tanks and shelving fitted and power points for a generator...
