its a series II they dont have the key start theres a seperate button you have to push to start it, it should be down on the firewall on the drivers side above the highrange 4wd knob.
ive recently started restoring restoring a 1970 series 2 and ill start with wat a strong reliable motor considering it cost $20 (all original motor except the coil now )to start it after sitting for about 6 yrs but im having problems with my ignition switch its not starting i can use the solenoid to jump it that way but cant seem to turn it over just with a key any ideas would be greatly appreciated

If the wiring is in a mess the most likely problem is that the connections to the ignition switch are incorrect.
Get hold of a wiring diagram (from the workshop manual) and check the connections both to the switch and to the solenoid. (And make sure the "start" wire is connected to the solenoid) It is possible that the solenoid itself is faulty - these are readily available (I got one from Repco) - and this can be checked by operating the solenoid by a wire from the live terminal to the start terminal. It is also possible that the ignition switch is faulty.
