Looking good, I wish I was that far along with Eden :(
Keep up the good (and constant) work :)
another few hours spent, not that you notice much difference in the pics :(
mainly making gaskets for the 8 bolt water pump and the thermo housing. sorting the double pulley and fan housing.
cleaning up the tappet cover gasket faces, adjusting the valves and trying to find the tappet cover gasket i have bought and lost
dropping in the electronic dizzy and the mallory coil.
bolting up the starter and routing the power cable to the isolation switch position.
sorting the battery holder and starting to clean up the air cleaner.

That last pic would make a great avatar Inc,,
and just got a call to say my radiator was salvageable and came up really well for the grand total of $150..
made my christmas, so far.... wife's shortbread still in the oven :p
must remember to buy a filter sock when i go pick it up :p
Merry Christmas All
I made a filter sock for my engine rebuild, using the foot sock from my wife's panty hose. By cutting them off about 6" long, poking them in though the radiator hose, them folding them back over the radiator hose pipe, then pushing the top hose over the pipe and panty hose, then clamping with the hose clamp.
This cough all the crud flowing around the coolant system hugh amount. I inspected it every couple of days and emptied the crud then refitted it, did this till there was a clean sock.
This worked very well.
Regards
Mike
it actually looked like a land rover for a few minutes yesterday!

but i found the raditor fan shroud i couldnt find earlier so it wasnt all bad ;)
picked up a new 55amp bosch alternator that bolts onto the series 3 mount that the lucas 14ac used sit on....

doing the welch plugs as well so i don't have to play the game again in the short term.

this is the info on the bosch alternator i sourced.
tried to fit a fan shroud to my radiator but the fan wouldn't fit :p
spent ages removing the welch plugs and flushing the block out. i got half a litre of crap out of the block...
started stripping the light fittings out of the old guards and fitting the headlights to the radiator support. what a mongrel job and very time consuming undoing 3/16th bolts and nuts that have been in place for 30+ years.
another 10 hours spent and i am dammed if i can see where most of it went....
