    Coming from Queenstown

After missing a few nice 2a's I finally found a beauty in Queenstown NZ. Looking forward to getting her back over this side of the ditch.

Wow, congratulations on your purchase! Looks a very tidy, well presented example!

What do you intend to use her for?

    Very nice!

I would love to see it on an AULRO trip one of these days (note to self, must organise one!)

    I see it's listed as a 1973 2A.
I thought that the 2A finnished in 1973?
Can someone tell me why some late 2A's have that type of grille, what i have heard refered to as the "chevron" grille, and nearly all others have the heavier rod type, not unlike the six cylinder has. Is there a particular date where 2A's changed to or from this grille comfiguration?

Saw that one on the auctions. Well done on the buy.

The oddness with the date may be that it was a CKD (?). There was probably quite some time between manufacture and first registration. The registration date in 1973 only relates to when it was first registered, not when it was made.

For example there are Stage 1's here that have registration dates that are later than when they supposedly ceased production by a year or more.

Without the registration plate or vin number it is difficult to say.

Thanks all. I managed to send the application for import off WITHOUT including most of the forms so there will no doubt be a delay with the process. Tip for new players: include everything in the application even if it isn't asked for - picture of you and the car, colour of its toothbrush, places you went on holiday etc.

    It's like waiting for Christmas.

The owner has very kindly agreed to garage it until the certificate comes through. Im sure plenty get caught short with this time delay trap buying out of Australia.

When I know more about the provenance I'll post an update, it does seem to be one of the very last 2a's but there is always a story with these old trucks. Seems there have been 7 owners since it was first registered.

May I be rude and ask approx what cost is it to freight it to Australia?
