What is it with brush bars being bent like that?
I've seen it often and in the same spot.
Have people tried to tow with a rope attached there or something?

G'day MrsHH
The bent brush bar would probably be the result of using a high-lift jack, seen this happen a couple of times on Bribie years agoand if that Holden Carby is a small venturi one (FE,FC,FB,EK,EJ,) or early red motor it will run quite well with a 49/50 main jet,to suit a 138/139 (2.25L) motor
they just don't like sideslopes much but it depends which way it is mounted, but yours is sitting on it's Zenith adaptor and has the bowl facing the front so should be OK, when /if you replace it with a 36IV Zenith just make sure you have the joint collar insert between manifold and adaptor or they will suck air
might be worth checking if it shows signs of rough running.
cheers
