I can't think of anything except to have a good look round for problems while you are at it - these are more likely to be outside the transfer case though - you don't really get much of a view inside, anyway, when fitting an overdrive (and transfer case problems are fairly unlikely anyway). Some of the things you ought perhaps to look at should include for example, oil leaks from the rear seal, condition of U-joints, condition of handbrake and linkage, including the boot round the handbrake lever, and check gearbox mounts for condition and tightness.
