This was the last bush to come out & it was a swine!
I resorted to sacrificing 2 rarely used & well worn screw drivers by cutting off the tips to make 2 wedges then tapping them in to unwind the looped end of the spring. The vice completed the job by aqueezing them in.
In the photos you can see a gap opened up between the outer bush & the spring coil. The bush then came out by squeezing it out with a socket in the vice. A length of pipe is, of course, necessary at t'other end.
WARNING! Wear eye protecting when hammering out the wedges! They come out with extreme prejudice! I've lost mine somehere in the workshop but they'll show up next time I sweep. It may pay to drape the spring with an old towel etc when you tap them out.
