I've got a spare down the back, it turns freely and feels ok.
PM me if you're interested.

Thanks Peter.
I took the tow bar off and mounted the spare - spare on the rear door. It messes with the rear step a bit, but I think the step mounts are bent/outta wack.
In the owners manual it lists as and option an 8 blade fan and a specific trailer. Do you ever come across these?
Rear spare
Eight blade fan is fitted to Australian army 2a Landrovers, and is required for stationary uses that use more than minimal power. It is unnecessary and power sapping for normal use (I have removed mine!). But the link to stop the engine moveng fore and aft that comes with it is worthwhile having.
I have not seen an example of the trailer in Australia, but there are probably a few private imports. There was a specific trailer built for the Australian army ones, and there are quite a few of these about, but this is not the one that gets a mention in the owner's manual.

G'day All,
If your after a trailer to suit the Land Rover as per 'the book' it will be a 'Brockhouse' trailer that your looking for, extremely rare down under.
Your blinker lenses are most likely 'Sparto' lenses, they were used on S2 & S2A, one of my restored S2A 88"GS had them fitted, I swapped them years ago for ??, anyway cheers Dennis:angel:

Fitted up the replacement water pump, worked a treat, thanks peterg1001
Also took the thermostat out for a quick look and replaced the rocker cover gasket.
Air cleaner is waiting to go back In, now I just need an original carb.
Another quick question for those in the know, as the indicators were optional- mine has the ind on the outer position on the small raised section of the fender, is this where the park/clear light should be and they have moved it in to fit the ind? Why is there enough space where the tail lights mount to fit two lights per side if it only came with brake lights?
Lastly, the other LR I have seen don't seem to have the rounded front/nose on the bonnet and the spare tire mount on mine is recessed down a little. Are there different bonnets?
Park lights were originally on the raised bit, but putting the blinkers there when fitted was common.
The position for the blinker was provided at the rear, as they were a planned option when the body was redesigned for the Series 2. Not clear why there was no similar provision in the front, but possibly because it was more necessary at the rear where the matching blinker would otherwise have been half on and half off the galvanised capping.
There are actually three bonnets for the Series 2/2a/3. There is the plain unrounded "standard" one, and a rounded front one, and a rounded one with a spare dish, both referred to as "deluxe" bonnets. These were standard fitting on station wagons from the start of Series 2, I believe, and are listed as such for 2a 109, although this seems not to have been the case for Australia, at least until well into S3 production. Although with it being the easiest bit to swap between vehicles,it is not really easy to determine what was original.
A spare wheel carrier was always optional, and very common, at least in Australia - I only have a single bonnet without one, and that is on a private import. There is also a slight difference in that early bonnets have four bolt hinges, where later ones have three bolt, with the holes in the same location as S3.
Hope this helps,
John
The horizontal arrangement of the lamps came from the factory for a short period during SII but progressed to the vertical arrangement by SIIa.
IIRC Bobslandies had a NOS mudguard with the holes punched to the horizontal arrangement.
The flasher lamp on the outside may be a result of wanting it to be seen from the side. Doesn't it have two indicator switches? Obviously a bit of retrofitting at some stage.
