All the hours spent cleaning everything and painting it will be rewarded soon... Putting it all together with all the bits done is great fun, and will happen quickly! Looking great so far!

    Update

    Hi All,

First job off the rank - tidy up the nuts/bolts/spring for the main throttle linkage:

I had left the gal sill that runs along the bottom of the doors un-painted, but finally decided that I should give them a lick of paint.
    Before:

    Sanded/Cleaned:

    First coat of black:

Went down to the hardware store and purchased some door stops (thanks for the tips guys) - fitted them to the seat back brackets:

Finally finished painting the firewall and also painted the steering column:

    That's it for a while!

    Update

    Hi All,

Another small job... I decided to clean the throttle linkage - the one at the carby end.

    Here is a picture BEFORE:

    And AFTER !!!

I am not sure - should I paint the main body or at least clear coat it? It did not have any paint on it before... Thoughts?

Next job was sanding/cleaning the panel that the choke hangs off. I had to do a small bog repair because the panel got slightly damaged when I removed it... It's now ready for paint:

    Front:

    Back:

I am waiting for the paint to dry on the steering column, and the door sills.
Next job is to paint the main throttle linkage and this panel..

    Getting there...

Looks like I'll have to pull my finger out and get your carby done soon.. A good job for my holidays once I get back home after Chrissy. I'll post some before and after shots of it.

Oh, and I'd just clear coat the linkages and brackets - they look good how they are.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

    Today's Tasks

    Hi All,

Some other small jobs done whilst waiting for the paint to dry...

I am not sure why but some of the pictures don't do justice to the cleaning!

Removed the starter button, polished it and painted it in clear. Before/After:

Sanded the grill - oh my, what a complete pain in the fingers that was! Before/After (I will clear coat it):

Clear coated the carby throttle linkage:

I have now started sanding/cleaning all of the steering arms. Before:

    And during:

I will paint the steering arms and also look at replacing all of the tie rods.

    Update

    Hi All,

While some paint is drying, I move outside and start other small jobs...

Here is the drivers seat bracket. Note that interestingly it is not very square... I do not believe that this is because it has been bent, it just looks out of square to my eyes. BEFORE:

Here it is cleaned and ready for paint:

Here is a picture of a painted steering arm:

Here is the front diff - before cleaning:

Here is a picture of the front diff during cleaning:

Lot's of little jobs happening at once... Getting there sloooowly..

    Today's Work

    Hi All,

Today I got up as soon as there was enough light (forecast 38c in Melbourne which will be too hot to paint in according to the paint tin).
This morning I painted the main section of the front diff. I plan on cleaning & painting the brake backing plates next..
    Here is a picture:

Here are some throttle linkages - I had already painted one of them, so decided to paint the main one also. I have clear coated the linkage that is on the carby end (in an earlier post) - I think that they have come up well:

Next job was cleaning the inside of the gear-box bell housing. Before /After:

Should I spray fish oil on the gears - as some protection while the clutch/engine are out?

And finally here is the painted panel that the choke lives on:

Cheers! I need to spend some time with SWMBO before I get into trouble for spending too much time in the shed...

I had to do this yesterday. Wasn't all bad, lovely pub lunch and a couple of beers, only problem was I didn't feel like going back out to the shed after

Nah, the speed at which you are going, the fish oil will still be wet by the time you come to re assemble.. (Next week) . Jokes aside, it can't hurt. Either that or a WD40 soaked rag just wrapped around it. Looking good tho... Pressures on now to fix it then before the 'Big White Distraction' arrives...
