I have a cable (screw type thingo) wipe system in my 2a, the motor works and turns however its not transferring to the wipers. If I hold them together with a bit of force it seems to work a bit better, although a bit more of a spread would be nice.

If this helps, the car has a defender windscreen fitted and it seems like the wiper holes have been moved and the original ones plugged up.

Any advice on this? Will try and get a photo over the weekend.

From your description the problem is the join - there was not one on the 2a, and I would guess the changed wiper positions are the reason for the join. You need to replace the joined bit of tubing with a new bit - it just has a simple flare on the ends. (or sleeve and braze the join)
