Hi everyone here's my $400 project car. I think its between April 69 and Jan 70 going by my research as its G suffix chassis number and engine number 24122168A. Apparently these are the high compression ones that came in April with the A suffix. It has a metal fan cowling which became plastic in Jan 70 so there's my Sherlock Holmes moment. It runs beautiful with tons of power I reckon anyway lol. The guy I bought it off claims the head was worked on, hardened valve seats etc. No roof don't know if it was canvas or not. Is there any way to know?

The closest engine I have a record to yours is engine 24122171A which was fitted to a vehicle originally sold in September 1970 (along with other relatively close engine numbers in the same month)
Suffix letters and some fittings in Australia don't necessarily correspond to details from the UK. The suffix here often lag behind by a couple of months and some components were manufactured in Australia so don't match the same part made in the UK

Wow, thanks for that, that really narrows it down! I've got a long way to go to get the old girl regoed. When I got her the rear diff center was stuffed, no brakes, no lights or blinkers worked, stuffed alternator, some chassis rust, birds nest style wiring, sounds like the usual stuff lol. I've addressed most of that stuff now its going to be spring bushes engine mounts and the like and a roof of some sort, but she goes great and I really love her. I even pulled a rangie out of one of the worst bogs I've seen with her ha! Anyway thanks again,

Hi chassis number is 25333206G which matches with the number on left rear. Its also got the Leyland/PMC plate with body number LRL24364 and serial 10924364 along with the usual wa "Faulls Pty" plate under the bonnet, many thanks

Any chance that your vehicle is red inside or underneath the paint on the outside?
The reason that I ask is that there is a batch of PMG vehicles for NSW distribution starting at 25333213G and possibly ending at 25333238G all September 1970. PMG vehicles were all painted in PMG fleet red. The PMG division that used Land Rovers was the telephone company that became Telecom/Telstra.
Because of the production issues of changing colours, PMC usually did large batches that would fill all the PMG orders across the whole of Australia and your's is so close it is a good possibility. PMG long wheelbase were always 4 cyl petrol where most civilian and many other government departments ordered the 6 cyl or diesel models.
If it were PMG it would either be a truck cab with ladder rack frame in the rear or a hard top. You can usually tell which one because of paired bolt holes and rubbing in the bodywork where the ladder racks were fitted. You may also see the line on the transom where the truck cab roof seal rubbed on the gal capping.

You could be correct about Bill, but I'd think he likely came off the PMC production line in March 1970.
In NSW 24316 prefix vehicles were still being sent to dealers in May 1970 although most had gone by March-April and the earliest 24317 dispatched to a dealer was 24317024G to Lannock Motors on 26/3/1970, there were earlier serials but they were dispatched in April.

I'll have a look when I get home. I know it was yellow at one time, its also got twin tanks wich I thought might have been specially ordered. At work at the moment groan.

Right got home straight to the Landy found some red paint inside both doors, so I thought OK they could have been replaced but then I found some more by taillight, some under bonnet, and some under the air vent. Also the two holes above the fuel cap I'm assuming are for truck cab and ladder rack? Pretty exciting stuff if I've got a bit of telecommunications history lol
