I can't answer your question however the stops shown seem to be either screwed or riveted in place. It stands to reason that if a stop was meant to be behind the driver's seat, you'd find a set of holes.
Just in the process of leveling out the seat backs in my IIa. I notice with both tray utes that the middle and passengers seats have stops to prevent the back rests from resting on the bodywork, but the drivers seats both do not. Should there be a stop in there also that has been removed from both of them, or are they just like that?
Thank you for any advice or pictures of how it's meant to be.

Cheers

There were only 2 thin rubber bumpers, much like the spare tyre bonnet rubbers , that were fitted to the seat back of the drivers. That was to give max seat travel I think.

Hi slunnie,
Just wondering where you got the tan seat covering from to do your seats ????
How much did you need.
I want to cover my Series 3 seats in the same.
Thanks.

Hi mate, I bought it from the foam and rubber shop in Bathurst. I'm sure Clark rubber etc supply the same. They supplied the cushion foam and the vinyl. The vinyl specifically is a more UV stable type for automotive applications. I can't recall the length but I did fit 2 cushions wide on the roll when making them.

This is what mine looks like. They almost look like door stops from a hardware but were on it when I got it.

Hi Simon
Just one question.
Does your driver's seat have the adjustable track and frame under the cushion? If it does then you won't have the brackets and buffers on the top of the transom.
You will find that there is also a couple of rubber stops on the hinges between the seat cushion and squab that restrict rearward movement of the squab, these often wear out or need replacement. (if the stops are intact, then the driver's seat sits at the same rake angle as the other seats, just it may be fore or aft of the alignment of the other two seats.)
The other possibility is that a tall previous owner has removed the brackets, to allow more upper body room.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Hi Diana, thanks!
It is a sliding seat. When I rebuilt/reupholstered the seat I didn't see anything like this, so I can only guess it had been removed. I certainly didn't install anything like it either. ok, so it may be a missing part there also. Thanks for this.
Cheers
