Managed to give the rear diff a reseal and remove a little bit of backlash. The bearings seem to be in fantastic condition, is it just me or do the words "made in England" mean they are possibly original?

Not necessarily - many spares probably carried those words until at least the 1990s, but highly likely that the bearings are original; unless allowed to run low on oil or run contaminated with mud or water, the diff is unlikely to ever require attention other than possibly replacing seals (most owners just top up the oil!). This actually applies to most diffs in most vehicles unless operated in extreme conditions.
