    My Series II barn find.

Been looking around for a 109" Series II now, for a few years. Chatting to a bloke who lives down the road about a kilometre, low and behold, if he doesn't have a 109" tray back laid up in his machinery shed that he wants rid of. Sadly, it has a Holden 186, but it still has the original box and a Fairey O.D. and is relatively unmolested and straight ... the stuff dreams are made of.
The long term aim is to get a 2.25L back into it. Short term, I'll be oiling it up for storage and that'll give me time to ponder the strategy for its resto.

    And here she is ...

WOW!!! Thanks that link helped. What a find it looks almost roadworthy already. Is there any rust at all?!

What a great example! Well done on the find, it looks like a really good starting point. I walked this exact same path with my IIa ute, barnyard find and then rebuilt it, and it is certainly the best way to do things in my opinion.
    Cheers

    Thanks all.

After a thorough inspection, there is very little rust in the chassis ... a few small holes in the tip of a cab outrigger. Solid bulkhead ... only slight external surface rust and no rust in footwells. Clutch is shot ... oil on plate, probably from both engine and g/b ... it has two positions, on or off. No brakes ... geeez, what a surprise! Haven't taken it through the gears yet, so box condition unknown, except for the fact that there's more oil underneath it, than in it. Rotten tray floor needs replacing.

Given the above, and that it'll end up being my daily driver once the Perentie is sold in a few years, I'm leaning toward a refurb and not a resto.
With the parts I currently have available to me, I can swap in a good running series 3 motor, coupled to a reco late 2A box that has a series 3 front on it with the series 3 clutch.
    Any comments greatly appreciated.

Nice find Daryl, I used to have one of those for a number of years. Whack a Salisbury in the rear and they are the best series around ( with the original motor of course)
