    1958 SII colour

Is this the only green that LR used in 1958?

Early models Series 2 = Deep Bronze Green BS-381C-224

Would it be a terrible thing to paint it something else? I'm quite partial to the modern Keswick Green in fact, or whatever that colour is the Heritage model is painted...

But I also understand the desire to bring it back to original.

Almost all sold in Australia were deep bronze green except for those sold to fleet owners that were a specified colour, yellow for Department of National Development, for example, but other colours were sold in the UK, although I don't know that the light green was.

Yes, it would. It would be a terrible, terrible thing to do that.

If you feel you can put up with every 'expert' telling you that the colour is incorrect for that model year then go for it.....

You also need to factor in that if it's a non-standard colour and you decide to sell it in the future then it may devalue the vehicle.

My personal preference is to keep it standard but each to their own.

(removed silly Monty Python sketch - seemed funny at the time; sorry)

I told the wife she could pick the colour so long as it was a standard 1958 colour. She wanted yellow ...

    Deep Bronze Olive it is.

    thanks to all,
    Pete.

    deep bronze green

Have a similar "need for paint" with with 64 2a.

You can get Deep Bronze Green in the UK, but they cannot send it to Aust by air as it is flammable.
Does anyone know where you can buy it in Aust. or is the only solution to get it matched at a panel shop and custom made?

Super cheap auto only have codes for mid bronze green- quite different and cannot do the british code BS381C for DBG. 90K colours, but not that one!!

    cheers,

My local place mixed me up a "DBG" aerosol which is very close in my opinion. Close enough for my patchy old girl anyway.

Colour code was 224. Apparently the Australian Standard colour DBG is close.

    Deep Bronze Green

Yep thanks guys. That helped... If you do a bit of googling you can find uk color charts listing equivalent australian standard colours; they equate DBG to Aust Std G63 DBG; which they describe as a *** match meaning distinguishable to the practiced eye. You can buy loaded spray cans of the stuff online from an Aust. supplier.

    cheers,
