Yeah I saw that, I might have to go further than nsw to find one lol. I'd really rather not as it would mean another $1000 to register it in nsw, plus whatever the guy doing the blue slip thinks needs doing to make it roadworthy.

Understood. You don't see them all that often and I think that went within a day.

What is everyone's opinion on these two?
Land Rover Series 3 109 - 2x Vehicles (Ute & Wagon), NSW Rego, Running! | eBay

They've been up for a while, so I can assume they must be overpriced. I could take the roof off the ute to put on the wagon, and probably eventually put the standard drivetrain back in to it as well as the front panels (also from the ute).
Although then I'll be left with the remains of the ute which I would guess are probably worth next to nothing.
I figure there must be a reason why no-one has bought them yet (maybe the seller is firm on his price?).
The other issue would be having to pay someone to tow the ute from the Central Coast back to Sydney, I guess I could take a chance and drive the wagon and just remember not to stop anywhere where I would need to reverse, lol.

Have you given up on the 2? You'll stand a much better chance of finding a 3 I would have thought.
Personally, I think they are overpriced, but pop up there if you really want them and offer him some silly cash and see what he says.
    cheers,

Yeah, there are hardly any around at all let alone S2's. What is your idea of silly money?
I had a look today out of boredom, the ute is basically toast - it'll cost me money to get it towed to Sydney and I might be able to salvage the driveline from it, and possibly use the front sheetmetal and ute roof (which needs a lot of repair work, severely dented/caved in) - the rest would have to be sold off and I don't think it'd be worth anything at all.
The wagon drives, but i'll probably take the 202 out and put the ute's 4 cyl in, and hopefully it has a good gearbox to replace the wagon's one which won't select reverse.
By looking at what they've been selling for on ebay etc, if they were both unregistered I think they'd be lucky to be worth $1000 together.

I wouldn't pay more than $600 each tops for them - for all the reasons you have pointed out. I still think you can do better - but you may have to go a bit further for it - it would be a good adventure getting it back though! At the end of the day - if its what you really want, pay the man the money. If its not what you really want - hold off. One will come along. Keep us informed with the hunt.Good luck
    cheers,
