    Glazing Channel

Has anyone found a good source/supplier for the rubber glazing channel for fitting hardtop side and rear windows, at a reasonable price?
Almost ten meters is required to reglaze an 88" hardtop and that's about $160 worth of rubber.
I see some cheaper stuff on e-bay but I am not sure of the quality, has anyone used it with good results?

    Cheers, Mick.

    Mick,
The same company I have to chase about the EPDM seal for sealing the hardtop to the tub also make the glazing rubber here in Australia.
Only available in 30mtr rolls, plus of course a 30 mtr roll of the locking strip is needed as well.

PM me your email address and I'll send you a pdf catalogue, we just need to determine the correct profile and I'll chase them for some pricing.

I'm after some as well if you want to split a 30m roll up a bit further.

    Cheers,

Colin I measured a scrap piece of the original channel I used a few years back that I got from Clark Rubber and it is 1294 profile (4mm glass, 1.5 aluminium, 6mm between glass and aluminium).
This morning I pulled the windows out of the vehicle I am working on at present and the glass is 5mm thick, aluminium 1.5, with 7-8 mm between the glass and aluminium. The glazing channel measures up at 7mm between the glass and aluminium and has a 10mm key strip.
So ideally from the catalogue you sent me the G3 is most suitable, however G8 would also do the job, but it takes the wider 11.6 mm locking strip.

I've just measured the rear door top I have here, off a S2A (I believe), 1.5mm Alu, 5mm Glass, 8mm gap.

    Cheers,

OK.....$8 per metre for the seal & locking strip (size G3) so 1/2 the price Mick was quoted.
    I have a 30mtr roll of each.

I'll double check what I need (if Mick is correct it will be about 10mtrs) so there will be 10 for Mick and one other (TimNZ shouted first). I'm not cutting to length & carrying the cost of wastage so it will be 10 mtr at a time.

I can get more but I'm doing this on 'work time' so maybe another couple of weeks away.

I have to measure & cut then weigh later in the week then work out how to ship, I'll let you know costs.

Interestingly I described the Land Rover door seal profile (with the slot for the metal strip) and they think they have a dies for this. Minimum run is only 60mtrs so we'll see what they come up with.........

Colin the number I came up with was for an 88 with a rear tail gate window.
My rough measurement was about 9.4 - 9.5 metres, so 10 metres covers any shortfall.
