Rear Left brake line on 109

Hi All, I removed all my brakes lines over the weekend, and will now get new ones made up. I did find one odd thing when removing them, and that's the rear left line was kind of glued to the axle with a black silastic type substance, see the attached picture.

Is this a normal arrangement ? To me it seems that line might be slightly too long, I have seen only one other picture of a rear brake line where it seems that line didn't go straight along the axle heading towards the diff like mine, but instead came up at more of an angle after leaving the bracket at the spring, and another picture where a sort of metal cable tie is used to bind the line to the axle.

Does anyone know how this line should be routed/attached, and perhaps have any pictures to share ? Also, I would like to know the correct length of this line.

    Thanks
    John

On the long side of the axle there should be a metal 'cable tie' as you mentioned.

The position/length looks about right with the pipe tucked behind the axle.

Thanks Colin, much appreciated. Good to know about the line length, I was a bit paranoid about asking for a shorter line, and risk getting one that's too short.

I don't think I'll bother with the official Land Rover metal cable tie, a plastic will do me fine.

    Cheers,
    John
