Now things are easing up a little regards travel I'm working towards roadworthy and rego
Next on my list is tyres I've found a set of rims from my collection to paint but noticed they are riveted

My question is are the riveted rims inferior to my other sets #272309 and #231609 which are welded
Cheers Paul
I have never found any significant difference between them. But there are differences in rim width and offset (independent of rivets or welding), and it is really a good idea to have all wheels the same!
What rims were originally fitted depends on when it was made, where it was made, and what options were selected - but the original equipment is almost certainly lost in time.
For a lwb like this you should only consider the 5.5" rims, and the more offset out you have, the better turning circle is possible by adjusting the steering stops.
John I have enough to use any of my three sets and get five the same
To my amateur eye the riveted set seems to have more offset than the others that’s why I chose them......all three sets are 5.5”
Will go with the riveted ones thanks for offset heads up re turning circle

New tyres fitted, when I was putting them on the car I found fluid on the brake drum which turned out to be a leaking slave cylinder.
I stripped it down and honed it and it appears to be holding.
I put a Series 3 gear box in this one and I’m not sure if I like it ,the synchro is nice and the gear pattern although the same is a lot different to the 2a as is the clutch feel
I guess I will get used to it, if not I do have a 2a box I can put in later
the three thumbnails upside down won’t turn over....starting to realise those bloody designers once again didn’t consider south paws with mobile phones and iPads, guess I’ll have to adapt to these as I did to every other right handed object in my life🤪😀

Walking past Storm today I noticed the rear window had shattered for no apparent reason, no point of impact or chipping....odd
Maybe i've built some kind of stress into the catflap when i installed it
