    Retro fitting a speed governor

    Hi.

Has anyone ever retro fitted an engine speed governor to a Holden 202 motor?

Is it ever possible with electronic speed droop controller and replace carburetor with electrical connections?

I'm looking for a challenge and some practical ideas, better if someone had already done or attempted this as idea even interested in fail stories.

Have you considered an electronic rev limiter? These work on the ignition - the better ones do not just kill ignition at set revs but slowly degrade the ignition reducing power.

There are a number available - this is but one Pertronix Digital Rev Limiter

I have this one for one of my vehicles and it works ok AccuSpark Rev Limiter for Traditional Ignition Systems 4, 6 & 8 Cylinder Engines | eBay

grab the bolt on governor off of a 2.25 and fit that to the accelerator linkage.

what about a tacho with a programmable shift light then take the feed from the light to a circuit that earths the coil? How crazy do you want to go with it? I'm wondering what the purpose is too?

That limits maximum revs, however the Land Rover has a winch powered from the center power take off driven from engine. This system requires a droop effect to control steady engine revs and torque upon winch.

Accelerator linkages are still there, which is good news. Where on earth would i find a governor of a 2.25 and how is it possible to connect to a Holden Red 202 Motor?

The Series 2 has a Center power take-off powered from Holden 202 engine that drives the front winch.
Need to regulate engine power for steady operation..

Doesnt matter which engine its on, the linkages connect to the mechanical parts of the carby that control the butterfly, so long as you have a carbie its just a case of fabbing up the brackets.

but as its the challenge you're after, dont go looking for a governor, make one. Its just a set of flyweights running against spring tension balancing against a demand lever which sets the position of an output arm. Pretty much the same concept as every other mechanical governor ever.

See you didn't say that is what you wanted it for in your first post. Information provided helps us provide a correct response.

    Cheers
