It is certainly similar to the factory one (but could be an Australian made copy - the tariff on car parts at the time and the reductions for local content encouraged this), but it is equally certainly an option rather than standard, and may have been dealer supplied and fitted, or possibly aftermarket.

						The 'flat' heater is the standard period UK fitment I think.
Not sure if they were ever fitted here or just came in with imported vehicles.

Good luck finding a flat smiths heater and all the bits unless you just won the lotto or something. I have a round one in the S1 and while it's ok at putting out heat it is incredibly loud, if I needed to use it more than a couple of mornings a year I would be chucking it out for a more modern option.

Just following up on this, as I have a flat Smiths heater to fit to a S2A "six" with Holden red motor, (a tray top, same colour as yours, they might be twins) and I'm interested to see the routing of the hoses to & from the engine, whether you used a tap and which type, etc. Any photos you can post would be most useful.

My apologies. I've just taken a few pics that might show what you're after. Let me know if there is anything else you'd like to see on it.
Just for some context, it is a 3/72 IIa 6cyl Ute with a 202 conversion. It was one of the very last IIa's and delivered to the Grain Elevator Board. I'm pretty certain it is as delivered to the Grain Elevator Board apart from the 202.
I'm holding the heater hoses here, running from the front of the 202 to the firewall. No taps.

The heater is a Smiths heater from the UK

The heater has ducts running up to both windscreens and a directional outlet which I assume assists demisting.
The heater switch you can just see on the additional swithc panel between the main console and the steering column. The lower switch is "Heater"
It also has little doors on the side. I'm not sure if they let cold air into the heater, or heater air out. I suspect it is a hot air out vent.

BTW, does anybody know if you can still buy that corrugated hose that goes from the heater to the windscreen or is it just some generic piping.

I am pretty certain the hose is generic. Should be able to find it, or something pretty similar.
The extra switch panel does not look like it came from Rover - the factory one has rolled edges like the instrument panel, and is usually without a gap next to the panel. This suggests a dealer fitted heater, but possibly Rover Australia being short of odds and ends as production of the 2a came to an end.

Those photos are very helpful. That is the same as the heater I have for mine, same piping and ducts. I'll fit mine up the same, the only change will be the addition of a tap to stope hot water heating up the cabin in summer.
The corrugated hose is generic, I've been told to use some old vacuum cleaner hose, which makes good sense. I'll look for some in the next Council kerbside cleanup.
