    1969 88 2a - 243.....G. Lights still in the middle though.
Named 'Jess' in a fit of frustration - "I jess wanted to fix this and now I've got MORE to do.
4cyl petrol, 6cyl 2a clutch, s3 gearbox, Toro overdrive, 6cyl brakes (unboosted), blue hardtop with added vents and 'safari lights', goes topless in the Dry.

'Dorothy' is my 1968 2b 6cyl FC, named because she looks like a dinosaur (but in a good way). Needs a lot of TLC so I'm looking forward to the challenge.

Guilty as charged, I have a 1969 series 2a, with original 2.25 petrol engine. Great mode of transport I suggest that everyone should have one the world would be a better place.

    OK, Problem.
Bought donor vehicle.Solid 65 SIIa (no engine, no rust)
    Mmmmmmmm.........Looks too good to dismantle.
Perhaps I could source a 186 or a nice 5 bearing or maybe even a Tdi and get this one going too?
Perhaps I need 3rd vehicle to get the other two going?
Perhaps I should join Land Rovers annonymous

That tray top does look too good to pull apart. I would look for a 2.25 diesel to put into it. They are very efficient. You won't set any land speed records, but it will pay for itself at the bowser. This engine will bolt straight in, as it is the same block as the petrol.

Good idea Aaron. I think it was originally a 2.6/6cyl so may have to frigg with engine mounts. But, hey, it's a Land Rover - anything's possible.

I don't know if the 6 cylinder was available in 1965. Post a picture of the inside firewall (just infront of the gearsticks) and this will show us.

Very interested on how your vehicle has a capstan winch connected to a Holden engine?

The 6 cyl was only available in the Forward Controls until May 1967 - Series LR Dates - Timeline

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
