Does that make my landy one of those rare series 2 swb that shonky was looking for?
The change to underslung steering arms came after the change from 2 to 2a - like so many supposed distinctions between 2 and 2a! The only change I have been able to positively identify as exactly at the 2/2a change is the increase in capacity of the diesel engine.
Add to this the fact that assemblies such as complete axles are interchangeable from the first Series 2 to the last Series 3 .............(and the fact that any Series 2a is at least 38 years old, giving plenty of opportunity for this).

Thanks john,
I think i have some landrover homework to do![]()
well i was never that good with homework but from what i can find the series 2 and 2a had the same leaf springs in them did they?.
See attachment for how the manual depicts the steering arms.
Yours appear to be assembled correctly but do show interference, so maybe you have a bent arm on the hub.
Thanks guys.
My steering looks to be how it should be, there is a small bend in the drag link but not enough to cause my problem id thought.
I have taken this photo as well. One thing i can think of is that i may have recieved the wrong springs somehow?
I just had a look at mine, there is a gap of around 30mm between the springs and tie rods.
Mine has more sag in the springs too.
