AFAIK there was only ever 1 Land Rover 1 Ton imported into Australia. That was a private import and happened in 1974. I last saw the vehicle was in either 1978 or 1982 at the Ampol petrol station on the north end of Alice Springs and would dearly like to find that particular vehicle today!
Even if you acquire all the bits it will only ever be a 1 Ton replica and never a 1 Ton Land Rover.
Depending on which point in 1 Ton production you wish to replicate, you need are:Then you just swap over the parts onto the ex-mil Land Rover.
- A SIII 6 cyl 109 ex-military GS vehicle/chassis.
- A 1 Ton front Salisbury axle assembly (or ENV for SIIa or....)
- A SIII 1 Ton transmission with all helical transfer box (or 1973-77 South African production SIIB transmission)*.
- 5 X 569204 Land Rover 6.5" X 16 rims.
- 5 X 9.00 X 16 tyres.

* for the transmission, you could always acquire a 1 ton mainshaft and then the transfer box constant gear, PTO hole cover/pinion bearing, intermediate gear cluster and output gear sets then rebuild those into your SIII transmission.
