extractors for a 2.6lt six
Evening all
chasing around to try and find a supplier of extractors to suit a 2.6 litre six cylinder. The local exhaust bloke will do me up an exhaust system but cant find anyone to supply extractors. If not will have to run a stock manifold but would ultimately like the benefits of a set of extractors. Anyone know of any.

They did exist and were rare in their day let alone today.
I cant remember who made them but they were a 2 piece arrangement that in theory should of slowed down valve burning.
I havent driven a 6 for years but mine use to cruise at 105km/h without an overdrive so maybe they did have some effect.

Phil. Irving always opined that extractors on a road going low to medium tuned in-line six cylinder were a waste of money. His oft stated preference was for two independent systems of decent size all the way out. Usual firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4 so you have 1-2-3 linked into one system and 4-5-6 into the other. I don't recall what a Rover six ex. manifold looks like so can't comment on the ease or difficulty of doing this. If difficult, you would probably get the best compromise with a big bore system of say 2 1/4"- 2 1/2" from the manifold outlets to the mufflers and a 3" or 2 x 2" from the mufflers out.

When i was looking for one for a 2.25 I called up Lukey's main office and they had records of a few old ones. I can't remember if the 2.6 was one of them but you never know.
Will extractors made for the Rover sedan with the same engine work? What about the 3 litre I have heard about?
