Hi Peter this is how i did the last one on the landy we use as everyday transport..Its so easy to park & the steering is lighter than in the wifes 4runner..
Its easy to do with a little bit of welding ability....

Im doing the same on this build aswell..

Well i got in & did a little bit to Harry today...
i took the bottom bit of the door runner off the bit that the bottom door rubber goes on..

    Steering wheel gone.

Steering box undone & brake booster undone..

steering box & brake booster out..

    Baulkhead off..

I droped it getting it off as the drivers side bolt was rusted in good so i grabed the passenger side to flip it over to the drivers side as i have done this before then was going to cut the bolt but i got it up half way & got over balanced & it went & crashed on the floor while throwing me with it & smashed the drivers side where the windscreen attatches,,OH GREAT..

Started to scrap some of the crap off the gearbox & Tcase so its easier with the degreaser..

also found the conversion a Dellows one as it has DELLOWS stmped round the starter hole on the back..
I thought it mite of been like the one in the green one & was thinking of having the engine side cut off & get a Holden 5ltr pattern welded on as its all made from steal...
This one is all cast alloy..

Start to soak it in degreaser tomorrow...Then find somewhere to put everything so i can start with the pressure cleaner..

Also found the rear diff to have close to an inch of play even after i change the uni as its stuffed big time...

Hey i remember reading somewhere that the later series 3 gearboxes are stronger then the earlier ones ,does anyone know if this is true & from what year this one is a 77..

I think it was 78 onwards. They have a ribbed outer case, and a one piece layshaft. Around the same time the bolt in gearbox crossmember appeared.
