    shock absorber identification

Ive got military 109 shackles on and are trying to identify if these shock absorbers will need replacing when I bring it back the std shackles. There are no other numbers I can see. I know the AC Delco numbers should be LGS091 for a 109 but i dont see any LGS-000 number at all.

Has anyone got measurements for fully compressed and fully extended shockies for a std 88" SWB chassis or LWB for that matter. I would like to know if i need to get new ones to go with the std shackles for my 88" . thanks. W

    Rear: AC Delco - 747520 misc nos: P00 352 B2 6 068

Hi Wallydog. Try the following. I cannot recall the bush type front and rear, but these measurements should be centre of eye to centre of eye, or centre of eye to the end of the thread on a pin type.
    Front 437mm extended, 290mm compressed
    Rear 445 extended, 285 compressed.
The eye to eye shock data will be accurate, the pin type I may have to check the measuring points if it doesn't look correct.

Thanks Admiral. I m not sure if the measures you quote are for the 88" or the military 109? Or just 109? This is great as Ill be able to determine if I can use them or not. Id hate to buy another set for nothing. W.

Wallydog, I have measured the original shocks off my 76 SWB.

Full details of everything stamped on them.

One side of both front and rear:
    MONROE
    MNFD UNDER LICENCE BY
WH WYLIE & CO PTY LTD
    SOUTH AUSTRALIA
    PAT.NOS. 120179, 121929
    121928 & OTHER PATS

    Reverse side of one has:
    501444
    5E6
The measured distance cnr2cnr is compressed 278mm, extended 415mm

    Reverse side of otherhas:
    501445
    1M5
The measured distance cnr2cnr is compressed 317mm, extended 515mm

I'm not sure which is front or rear as the beast is in bits however I'm assuming the rear has the longer travel.

Hope it helps and not too late

    Cheers
