Tried Rovertek in Welshpool Charlie, they said they don't work on old land rovers!

Said that all the knowledge had gone with the old guys. All they now do is Discos, Rangies etc.

They suggested I try any truck mechanic etc.

Nothing like what is on offer in UK

Well if you buy a decent workshop manual and some tools you can teach yourself reasonably easily; or find any older mechanic 50+ and get them to teach you. I taught myself from books when I was 17,

Maybe when I am retired, but at the moment with a young family and a busy job I am lucky to be able to just drive it let alone work on it!

You could try Prestige Motors/Mechanics on Fitzgerald street next to the Gull Servo. They have plenty of old series out the front usually, and there is a 'Old Guy' there that does work on series rovers. Not sure on prices, quality, but cant hurt to give a call:

The guy at West Coast Rover has always been working on older Landies when I have been in there:
