I had the same trouble with mine and solved it for a while by just putting a washer underneath the detent spring. Probably the same sort of effect as putting a new spring in, just tightens it up a little. That worked for quite a while until just recently it started to do it again in low range. I believe that the ultimate cause of it is the face of the selector fork wearing and allowing it a little movement. A new fork or resurfacing is required.
