I'm just glad there was an engine under there at all! I was starting to think that the block had been replaced with a big dirt clod. After working away at it for a while was concerned that what started out looking like a six cylinder might end up as a four.
After a complete clean down of the whole engine, chassis and body, i had to remove about two full wheelbarrow loads of crud off the driveway. Must've made the vehicle at least 30kgs lighter

Yeah, I'm prepared for the engine to be a bit of a hassle and money pit to restore back to good again. But that's just part of the fun isn't it?
I'll cross that bridge when i get to it. Start saving now i guess, in the meantime there's PLENTY of other things on the vehicle to pour my limited time and hard earned cash into

Thanks AJ and everyone else who answered Captain Funbeard's question about how to find engine numbers.

It looks like mine is 94119428B which is not the engine that it came with when the Army first bought it back in 1980. It should have had 94130788C under the bonnet.
This gives me room to play
    Kind Regards
