    "Humbrol #23.
Available at all good hobby shops, approximately $3.45 per tin"

This is from one of the members here a while back when I asked the same question about the correct engine colour.
I grabbed a couple of tins from a Hobby Shop in Melbourne and then had litre matched by a local vehicle paint supply shop.

    Cheers, Mick.

I took the front timing cover off my 78 Game the other day to change the seal and the inside of the cover is painted the same colour as the outside but is of course in much better condition. I think it would be possible to take it along to somewhere that can colour match and get a good match. I might take a photo but it won't necessarily come out properly on a monitor. It is a pretty blue though .

Here are a couple of photos of the inside of the timing cover. Nice condition paint in there.

I recognise that this is now an old topic, but thought I had better upgrade what I posted earlier on. There I had said that my motor was duck egg blue and this seemed to be the correct colour for a S3 2.25l petrol block.

According to the appendix on the 5 bearing motor in my service and repair manual (Haynes Series 2, 2A and 3) these later motors were differentiated from the earlier 3 bearing model (S2A and S3) by having red painted blocks.

Perdix noted that he had a red block in his post which would have been right.

    Cheers,

this is from an old post I found,
    cheers,
