Most likely thing I can think of is the pushrod adjustment on the master cylinder allowing a pressure buildup in the system. Perhaps the lock nut got left loose.
Hope that helps.

Hi all
i put a new clutch plate in my series 3 a few months ago as the old one was worn out, after we did it was working great, good pedal feel etc but now it takes up late (only like 20mm of pedal travel left) and I'm stumped as to why. Slave cylinder seals were replaced at the same time and master cylinder seals two years ago. Any suggestions?

Thanks john I had a look at the push rod adjust today and all was well in there.
I also noticed the pedal doesn't go right to the floor and when I got under and listened while someone else pushed the pedal it sounds like something is hitting on something inside where the slave cylinder goes into the bell housing? I'm going to take the slave cylinder off tomorrow and have a look.
At least with these things, you can slide in underneath to work on them - I have trouble getting the trolley jack under the MG.
Have fun with your clutchumm, I mean
