S3 in "The West Australian" today

Noticed a photo of a Series 3 in the The West Australian newspaper this morning. 500,000 miles! Used for what they were designed for.
(Hope this works - never tried attaching documents before)

Great to see people like Harry Butler still out there doing their thing. I remember his TV shows well and always had a great respect for the man. I see he now holds a doctorate.
We had a similar type of person up in North Queensland, the late Allan Ay from Ayr (His postal address read; A. Ay, Ayr) who was possibly one of the greatest ornithologists in the state (but never publicly recognised because of a lack of uni education. Harry Butler had a similar problem in his heyday but at least made it on TV.). His bird egg collection with complete notations was more complete and far exceeded that of the State Museum's collection.
I am not sure what happened to the collection on Allan's death but I tend to recall something about the collection being noted to be kept in Ayr rather than shipped down to Brisbane as the authorities wished.
He had found a couple of rocks out around Hughenden way that were shaped a lot like the upper part of the female torso so he, with tongue in cheek, labelled them "udderite" and was chastised by a visiting uni group for spelling Uderite incorrectly. Apparently they didn't have the same sense of humour that Allan had.
Allan was a cane farmer by trade and many tourists that travelled through Home Hill Ayr in the 60s and 70s would have called in at his butterfly collection displayed at his residence which was clad in local cut and polished sand stones that he also collected. The display that the tourists saw was a minor portion of his collecting efforts.
    Regards
    Glen
