Those holes are drain holes, I believe, not designed for mounting anything.

Hi Folks,
Purchased some JATE fittings and bolts in the (possibly mistaken) belief that they would simply bolt on to my Series III. But they don't reach to where the existing holes are located in the chassis (see image).
Anyone here used these? If so, how were they fitted? Is there a need for substantial mods to the front of the chassis (eg drilling large holes and fitting crush tubes) or is it OK to just drill a hole through the chassis closer to the front? If the existing holes weren't put there for these fittings, anyone know what they were for? Are they standard?
Regards
Coop

G'day Coop,
I found this site which has a couple of photos of JATE fittings - they might help?

Thanks Lionel, I found those too, but the machine they are bolted to has coil springs- Defender?- anyway not the same as my Series III leaf spring machine, which doesn't have those fittings.
I thought the holes in my chassis were for the same purpose, but this proved not to be the case....

Are they wide enough to be bolted on where the front of the spring bolts up? If they are, you may only need longer bolts?
Just a thought - Gav![]()
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
Thanks Gav- they are almost long enough, but the bolts that hold the springs are larger diameter and it would take too much strength out of the fittings if you enlarged the holes to suit.
Nice try, but no cigar... :-)
I've put them up for sale- maybe someone else can use them.
