Not sure if you have someone do it, but a kit is between about $300 and $600 depending on what you get and where you get it. That would be for gaskets, seals, bearings, etc. if there is gear damage, it can get quite a bit more. If that is the case, you would be better sourcing a good second hand box and shoving a kit in that.

Check out these threads S3 Gearbox overhaul kit

    And http://www.aulro.com/afvb/series-ii-...ment-reco.html

They should give you some ideas.

I sourced an overhaul kit from the UK for 80GBP which included all bearings, seals, gaskets, synchro clips, pins etc. The bearings were 'no-name'.
As already mentioned, if there are damaged gears then there will be additional costs.
Someone I spoke with recently paid $2,500 for a reco box but I'm not sure if that included the transfer box (hopefully it did at that price).

I did my own last year.

I have seen them rarely come on ebay and they go for around $800-$1200. I would think more often then not there wouldnt be any gear damge or you may be able to get the gears from someone else who has a spare gearbox and then it would be a cheaper rebuilt box
