    Bonnet clamps

    Hi all,
I'm new to this sight, living near Brisbane in the Redlands, and just got myself an old Series 3, think its 1973 (thats what I was told), going to strip it down and rebuild it as a project.

There don't seem to be any identification plates on the Bulkhead or Chassis, how will that effect things when I come to register the car in Queensland.

One other thing which is different to most land rover I have seen is that mine has Spring loaded Bonnet clamps on the front corners of the wings, as well as the spare wheel housing on the Bonnet. Mine is that Camino Gold colour, (not sure if that is right spelling).

    Any ideas

    Cheers

Does it have the original motor or is it fitted with a Holden 6?
Spring clamps for the bonnet were popular when the front radiator support panel containing the bonnet catch mechanism had been modified to allow the radiator to move forward for the Holden donk.

A Camino gold SIII would not have had the bonnet clamps at the corners. Only the Army SIII had them from the factory and they weren't spring loaded ones.

The spare wheel on the bonnet was an option.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

My S3 doesn't have any ID plates on the bulkhead etc... just the one on the radiator, I had no trouble getting rego in QLD. Just make sure you "find" the ID number on the Chassis.

I think one of the best places to ID the vehicle is the chassis number, which can be found on the chassis rail above the left hand rear spring hanger.

    Good luck with your resto.

    We all love pics.

    Thanks Guys

I'll get some pics up before the weekend,

I do have an ID plate on the radiator, so hopefully there is one on the chassis

I was told when I got the car that the engine was out of another Landy as the original one didn't go, It's a 4 cylinder, but how can I tell if it's a Land rover engine.
