I had a lot of drama with fitting new shoes to the front of my swb.
The drums are standard size and they did not need maching and the new shoes just kept binding and dragging. The shoes were slightly oversize and needed a bit taken off them in order to rectify the problem. I tried three sets and they were all the same. Thirteen years back when getting the vehicle ready for a roadworthy I fitted new front drums and new shoes with no issues...obviously the shoes were from a different manufacturer.
This may be the same issue that you are faced with. Once you get all the right components and install them correctly measure the inside diameter of your drums to see if they are standard or oversize.
Good luck!
