    S3 door seal options?

    HI all

There are nor door seals on my 76 cab chassis, so as I see it I have two options:

    1. Buy original type seals and rivet in place.

    or

    2. grind of the folded lip on the door frame (about 3mm) and then use a push on pinchweld type of seal same as on the Defender.

I was told about option 2 yesterday and it grabbed my attention - also this is better type of seal compared to original. just involves some time with the grinder and then paint over the bare metal.

Can anyone see any limitation to option 2?

    Thanks

I used option 2 ; not too difficult using a cutting wheel , then tidy up with a grinder. Make sure you protect the inner windscreen from sparks as they stick (a few got past my barrier). The Defender seal slips right on but will require some trimming around hinges and door latches. I cut the hard clip-on section (careful hacksaw + knife) but left the soft outer part of the seal in most areas. Cheers!
